TV Production Files For Cell Phones,
PDAs, and BlackBerry-Type Displays
The TV production files on this site have been upgraded so they can be viewed on cell phones and the larger BlackBerry-type devices.
For most of these mobile devices it's best to go to this TV Production Index and let the built-in web browser in your mobile device render the pages.
For some cell phones a free program such as Opera Mini™ (discussed below) will work best.
If this index (the recommended one) does not prove satisfactory, try the next one -- Index #2. The latter files are preformatted for mobile use -- but they may not reflect the latest revisions. (This version is now being revised.)
Because both of these site designations (URLs) require a bit of typing -- sometimes not easy on a mobile device -- we recommend saving the one you use under a shortcut such as "favorites.".
With either of the "mini screen" versions elements such as the crossword puzzles and some large illustrations with text will not be satisfactorily rendered.
These mini screen approaches should only be used when you are unable to view the pages on a regular computer screen.
On the other hand, the mobile files will be available anywhere you have cell phone service -- which is just about anywhere.
Wireless PDAs, such as Palm's TX (pictured above), have built-in browsers. For many cell phones the Opera software is best for rendering the pages.
The Opera program for cell phones is free, but you must have a phone capable of running Java mobile applications through an Internet link. Most phones made since 2001 will work. Depending in your plan, your telephone company may charge you for Internet downloads.
Here's a list of supported phones with installation instructions.
Also check these helpful links -
Help Files and Opera Forum. When surfing with Opera Mini, Web pages are optimized and compressed before being sent to your phone.
This means that even though your mobile provider may charge you for the data which is transferred to your phone, the amount of data transferred is significantly less than it normally would be..
Because this is a new technology, we would appreciate feedback.
