Prostitutes Nominatedfor Honesty Award
How could this be? Well, it seems that this conservative Republican lawmaker was caught in the act in a local shopping mall parking lot. Caught in the act of getting oral sex from a prostitute... ...for $22. After all he had been saying about family values... ...being a family man himself with a wife and six kids... ...and after earning a perfect rating from the Christian Coalition. But, let's not be too quick to condemn this one man. If you've been reading the newspapers you know that he's just one of a string of conservative, family values politicians who have "fallen" in the same way? All the while trying to convince us of the evils of ilicit sex.
I'm looking at an article in this week's paper about a well-known radio evangelist... ...who has wailed on for years about the evils of child abuse and pornography... ...who was just sentenced to 15 years for felony forcible sexual abuse of a 14-year old girl.
Since the incident with our beloved representative happened right in my own back yard, so to speak, I thought I should search for a logical explanation. I called on one of my professional contacts, who, in his spare time is a self-appointed guardian of everyone's morality... ...and a person who has a ready answer for any question. "Satan tempts most those that are most Godly," he says. Now I understand.
Just one of the prices you have to pay for being married to a saint. Funny, if I got busted in a similar situation, I would be labeled a pervert...or worse... ...when I got out of jail. Since it hasn't happened, I guess Satan, doesn't much care about me... ...which gives you an idea of my value in the spiritual scheme of things.
...is that while these people wail on to the rest of us about the evils of sex... ...many are engaging in things the rest of us wouldn't dream of doing. I guess I don't have to remind you about all the young men and women that have been molested by priests and ministers. When you get right down to it, I think in a way prostitutes are more honest... ...they know what they are...what they are engaged in...and they don't spend a lot of time trying to make you think otherwise. When it comes to sex, who do you think is most deserving of this year's honesty award? * Editor's Note: Since this article was written the number of children who have been molested by clergy is now in the thousands and legal settlements are threatening to bankrupt some churches. Although the revelations primarily center on Catholic priests, according to The Los Angeles Times. which cites an extensive database of reported cases, the problem is shared by all religious denominations. Some denominations have been forthcoming about the problem and have taken immediate and effective action. Exceptions have been the Catholic church and some fundamentalist Christian churches that have had a history of ignoring or covering up the problem. When that didn't work they have often paid victims for their silence. Unfortunately, there are also cases where victims have been threatened and intimidated into silence. |
